# Celtic: Hoops target Ofir Marciano snubs new deal

**Celtic are [reportedly monitoring Hibernian goalkeeper Ofir Marciano](https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/ofir-marciano-breaks-silence-on-hibs-future-as-he-hints-at-summer-exit-amid-premier-league-claim-3157674) ahead of the summer window.**

There has been a key development regarding his future, with Hibernian manager Jack Ross [confirming](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ofir-marciano-rejects-hibs-contract-23684466) that the 31-year-old has turned down a new contract at Easter Road.

### Premier League ambitions

Marciano, who has made [145 appearances for Hibernian](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ofir-marciano/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/112008/verein/903) and has turned out [23 times for Israel](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ofir-marciano/leistungsdaten/spieler/112008), will now leave the club at the end of the season when his [current deal expires](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ofir-marciano/profil/spieler/112008).

Celtic aren’t the only side who have been [linked](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ofir-marciano-rejects-hibs-contract-23684466) with the shot-stopper. Hapoel Be’er Sheva are another club [thought to be keen](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ofir-marciano-rejects-hibs-contract-23684466) on Marciano, who has [Premier League ambitions](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ofir-marciano-rejects-hibs-contract-23684466).

### Transfer Tavern take

It remains to be seen what Celtic’s goalkeeping plans are for the 2021/22 campaign, but statistically a move for Marciano could be a shrewd one.

He has kept [12](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ofir-marciano/leistungsdaten/spieler/112008) clean sheets in the Premiership this season, the [same number as Scott Bain](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-bain/leistungsdaten/spieler/85627) and more than Vasilis Barkas ([10](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vasilis-barkas/leistungsdaten/spieler/248658)).

Performance-wise, Marciano leads the way among the trio, as per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/). The Israeli averages a Premiership match rating of [6.73](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/320/Show/Scotland-Hibernian), up on Barkas’ score of [6.49](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/103/Show/Scotland-Celtic) and Bain’s [6.62](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/103/Show/Scotland-Celtic).

Conor Hazard [recently penned](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11787/12234736/conor-hazard-celtic-goalkeeper-signs-new-contract-running-until-2023) new Parkhead terms, so you’d expect that either Barkas or Bain would have to make way in order for Marciano to come in.
