# Celtic: David Turnbull becomes Hoops’ latest injury victim

**Celtic midfielder David Turnbull is the latest player to suffer a muscular injury, with Ange Postecoglou believing that it is down to the number of games the Hoops are playing, as per [Football Scotland](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/david-turnbull-injury-extent-laid-22514131).**

### The Lowdown: Ange’s first trophy

Postecoglou won his first trophy as Celtic boss on Sunday after an entertaining [2-1](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59705941) win over Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup final. Kyogo Furuhashi made a return from injury and was the hero for the Hoops, scoring both goals after Paul Hanlon opened the scoring for Hibs.

Celtic were without the likes of Albian Ajeti, Karamoko Dembele, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Jota and Christopher Jullien for the final [due to injury](https://www.67hailhail.com/news/ange-postecoglou-delivers-hopeful-celtic-injury-update-ahead-of-final/), and it now seems as if Turnbull could join them in the treatment room.

### The Latest: Hamstring injury

Celtic have had a [number](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10302921/KRIS-COMMONS-Celtic-injuries-mean-Postecoglou-fighting-title-hand-back.html) of their attacking players sidelined in recent weeks, especially due to [hamstring](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/david-turnbull-injury-extent-laid-22514131) problems, with Turnbull even occupying a [centre-forward](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-turnbull/leistungsdaten/spieler/345760) role against Motherwell earlier this month.

He hobbled off with a hamstring problem in the first half at Hampden Park and was replaced by Nir Bitton, with [Football Scotland](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/david-turnbull-injury-extent-laid-22514131) sharing Postecoglou’s comments regarding Turnbull after the game.

The Hoops manager fumed: “David suffered from the amount of games we are playing at the moment. We are suffering because of that.

“We have not been able to rotate the squad a lot and that is hurting us at the moment, picking up these injuries. We will just see how he is.”

### The Verdict: Doubt for St Mirren…

You’d expect that Turnbull, who Postecoglou has called [‘outstanding’](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/sky-st-mirren-motherwell-scotland-david-b1906588.html), will now be a doubt for Celtic’s trip to St Mirren tomorrow night and could miss his [first](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-turnbull/leistungsdaten/spieler/345760) game of the season.

They won’t want to take any risks on the attacking midfielder as he has been so influential this season, contributing to [16](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-turnbull/leistungsdaten/spieler/345760) goals and playing in a variety of different positions.

The Hoops have had just 72 hours to prepare for the St Mirren clash, so it could be a wise decision to leave Turnbull out for that game and look to use him for the [three](https://www.celticfc.com/fixtures/) remaining fixtures before the winter break, should his injury not prove to be too serious.
