# Celtic: Insider makes further Ahmed Kendouci claim

**Transfer insider Dean Jones believes that Celtic target Ahmed Kendouci is ‘pushing’ for a late move to Parkhead, as per [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/1828354-celtic-transfer-news-22-yo-ange-target-pushing-for-parkhead-switch).**

The Hoops have already brought in [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371) players this month and there could be more to come, with journalist [Pete O’Rourke](https://www.givemesport.com/1826058-celtic-transfer-news-ange-could-target-talented-risktaker-after-major-setback) believing that the Hoops could be after another central midfielder before Monday’s deadline.

Kendouci, who was [linked](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/8268633/celtic-linked-ahmed-kendouci-lowdown-rangers-bougherra/) with a move to Celtic earlier this month, is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-kendouci/profil/spieler/645764) a central midfielder who can also play an attacking role or on the left. The 22-year-old has contributed to [31](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-kendouci/leistungsdaten/spieler/645764) goals in [81](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-kendouci/leistungsdaten/spieler/645764) appearances for ES Setif, and it seems as if he is keen on a move to Scotland.

### The Latest: Jones’ comments

Jones, who recently labelled Kendouci as a player with [‘huge potential’](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-transfer-insider-makes-ahmed-kendouci-claim/), was talking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/1828354-celtic-transfer-news-22-yo-ange-target-pushing-for-parkhead-switch) regarding the Algerian.

He believes the player is ‘pushing’ for a late transfer and urged the Hoops to get a deal over the line, saying:

> “I think they should try stepping up their interest because they don’t want this window to end on a bad vibe.

> “I believe he’s pushing and is quite keen on the transfer. If they can push forward with that, then I think that it would really give them the exact feeling they want within the camp going into the final stages of the season.”

### The Verdict: Left-back instead?

Celtic are [fairly well-stocked](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/kadernachposition/verein/371) in the middle of the park following the arrivals of Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Matt O’Riley, so perhaps another midfield addition isn’t exactly pivotal at this moment in time.

However, should the Hoops send Adam Montgomery out on [loan](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/adam-montgomery-set-celtic-loan-25944957) and find a new home for [Boli Bolingoli](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-transfer-rumours/ajeti-barkas-bolingoli-celtic-exit-rumours/), then perhaps signing a new left-back could be a smart idea.

Greg Taylor could end up being Postecoglou’s only recognised left-back for the second half of the season, so a late defensive acquisition could come in handy.
