# Celtic: Jeremie Frimpong posts on Instagram following opening day victory

**Celtic started their [defence](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/startseite/verein/371) of the Scottish Premiership with a commanding [5-1](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53541535) victory over Hamilton Academical. This victory would have shown their title challengers like Old Firm rivals Rangers that it will not be easy to stop them from [retaining](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/startseite/verein/371) first place this season.**

Odsonne Edouard shone for the Hoops as he scored a [hat-trick](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53541535), but one player who also had a great game was Jeremie Frimpong, who won [Young Player of the Year](https://www.celticfc.net/news/18182) at Celtic last season.

The right-back picked up a 7.0 rating, per [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/hamilton-academical-celtic/cXsBX), and he was a bright spark at both ends of the pitch, as he won five ground duels and made one key pass. Added to that he also picked up a [goal](https://www.sofascore.com/team/football/celtic/2352) on the day as well. Neil Lennon will be very pleased with how the £2.7m-valued [former](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremie-frimpong/profil/spieler/484547) Manchester City academy star has started the season and will definitely be hoping for more of the same.

He clearly enjoyed the goal as he went to [post](https://www.instagram.com/p/CDZsU5vBGQN/) on Instagram which the Hoops fan base will love. The defender shared a couple of photos showing him scoring the goal, and the celebrations after finding the back of the net supported with the caption, ‘3 points! ⚽️ goal! 🏳️ Flag day! Off we go!’

The post gained a lot of attention from supporters of the Bhoys, with many rushing to congratulate the youngster and rave about his display against the Accies. You can see some of the responses below:

**cormacdillon1:** What a player

**jonihartson9:** Well played man top class

**swoose\_:** Frimpong \> Cafu

**michaelmitchell1996:** You’re actually the goat jeremie

**unklegibby:** Well played today my man

The club will look to continue to brush away opponents and if they can do this they will be able to win their tenth title in a row. This would see them make history as they would become the [first side](https://talksport.com/football/537546/celtic-vs-rangers-who-has-won-more-scottish-premiership-titles/) in Scottish history to win ten on the bounce.
