# Celtic: Journalist drops Kyogo Furuhashi concern

**Journalist Pete O’Rourke believes it’s a ‘massive blow’ not knowing when Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi will return from injury, [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/87979008-massive-blow-for-celtic-real-concern-ahead-of-st-mirren-clash) report.**

### The Lowdown: Furuhashi’s absence

The 27-year-old was enjoying an unbelievable first season at Parkhead, contributing to [21](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyogo-furuhashi/leistungsdaten/spieler/489463) goals in just [27](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyogo-furuhashi/leistungsdaten/spieler/489463) appearances in green and white. However, he hasn’t been seen since the end of [December](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyogo-furuhashi/leistungsdaten/spieler/489463) due to a hamstring problem.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have managed to cope without their big summer signing, though, and are currently [three points](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/scottish-premiership/table) clear of Rangers.

The Hoops boss admitted recently that Furuhashi is [nowhere near](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/8489944/kyogo-grim-celtic-injury-return-rangers/) a return to action, with a crucial Glasgow Derby just over [four weeks away](https://www.celticfc.com/fixtures/).

### The Latest: O’Rourke’s comments

O’Rourke was talking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/87979008-massive-blow-for-celtic-real-concern-ahead-of-st-mirren-clash) regarding Furuhashi’s absence. This is what he had to say

> “It’s a massive blow for Celtic, to not even have a timeline for when he might be able to return is a real concern for Celtic.”

### The Verdict: Return needed

Postecoglou has relied on Giorgos Giakoumakis and January signing Daizen Maeda with Furuhashi out.

Giakoumakis has scored [six](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daizen-maeda/leistungsdaten/spieler/420931) times in 2022 and Maeda [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daizen-maeda/leistungsdaten/spieler/420931), however, the Hoops have had their struggles in front of goal in recent weeks.

Centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers and captain Callum McGregor are the only players to have scored in the club’s last 270 minutes of action, netting in a [2-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60488485) win over St Mirren on Wednesday after a [0-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60450249) draw with Hibernian and a [2-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60456047) defeat to Bodo/Glimt, so the sooner they have Furuhashi back, the better.

It may well be touch and go for the trip to Ibrox next month, so the Hoops may need to navigate [three](https://www.celticfc.com/fixtures/) more fixtures in all competitions without their star forward.
