# Celtic: Klimala close to New York Red Bulls move

**MLS side New York Red Bulls are close to a move for Celtic striker Patryk Klimala.**

That’s according to [Alison McConnell of The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/end-of-road-for-celtic-recruitment-chief-nick-hammond-2cjllmmkh), cited by [Once A Metro](https://www.onceametro.com/2021/4/1/22361448/rumor-red-bulls-close-to-move-for-celtic-striker-patryk-klimala), who claims that New York Red Bulls are close to a deal for the out of favour Hoops forward.

### Klimala’s Celtic absence

The MLS transfer window is open until [June 1](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/6907999/celtic-klimala-transfer-target-new-york-red-bulls/), with [Cameron Harper](https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/19139913.celtics-cameron-harper-finalises-move-new-york-red-bulls/) and [Andrew Gutman](https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/atlanta-united-acquire-andrew-gutman-celtic-immediately-loan-him-new-york-red-bu) recently making the move to New York Red Bulls from Parkhead.

Footage of first-team training at Lennoxtown was shared by Celtic earlier this week, with the [22-year-old and fellow forward Albian Ajeti not in shot](https://www.67hailhail.com/news/there-were-two-notable-absentees-from-celtics-training-video-yesterday/).

### Transfer Tavern take

Klimala, who earns [£5,800-a-week](https://salarysport.com/football/scottish-premiership/celtic/) in Glasgow, was handed a chance to impress under interim boss John Kennedy in his first game in charge against Aberdeen.

However, the Pole was [brought off just after the hour mark and hasn’t been in action since](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patryk-klimala/leistungsdaten/spieler/387153).

A loan move for regular game time could be the correct decision by the Hoops, who paid [£3.5m for the forward in just over 12 months ago](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/6907999/celtic-klimala-transfer-target-new-york-red-bulls/).

However, the new Celtic manager may have a different view on things, so it could be a wise call to wait until Neil Lennon’s successor is in place before agreeing to any loan move.
