# Celtic: Kyle Edwards update emerges

**Bournemouth are trying to hijack Celtic’s attempts of signing former West Brom man Kyle Edwards, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-bournemouth-hijack-celtic-bid-to-sign-edwards-after-west-brom-exit/).**

### The Lowdown: Edwards talks

Edwards is currently a [free agent after his deal at The Hawthorns expired earlier this month](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyle-edwards/profil/spieler/314366).

The wide man emerged as a target for the Hoops, who [opened talks with the 23-year-old](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-open-talks-to-sign-edwards-after-he-quits-west-brom/) following his Baggies release.

Ange Postecoglou [reportedly](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-negotiating-personal-terms-with-edwards/) gave Celtic the green light to sign Edwards in a cut-price deal and they were [negotiating personal terms last week](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-negotiating-personal-terms-with-edwards/).

However, reports have since gone cold, with Edwards now on [trial at Championship side Reading](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/kyle-edwards-reading-trial-celtic-24510611).

### The Latest: Source shares update

According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-bournemouth-hijack-celtic-bid-to-sign-edwards-after-west-brom-exit/), who were informed by a Bournemouth source, the Cherries have now made their move for the winger.

Bournemouth’s interest is reportedly a threat to Celtic’s hopes of singing Edwards, who was described as [‘unbelievable’ by West Brom midfielder Romaine Sawyers](https://theathletic.co.uk/1559516/2020/01/27/kyle-edwards-new-contract-west-brom/).

The [report](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-bournemouth-hijack-celtic-bid-to-sign-edwards-after-west-brom-exit/) confirms Edwards is currently with Reading, however, they are not the favourites to sign the winger.

### The Verdict: No longer needed?

Since Celtic were discussing personal terms with Edwards, they have signed [Liel Abada](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/july/Celtic-delighted-to-sign-highly-rated-midfielder-Liel-Abada/) and [Kyogo Furuhashi](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/july/Celtic-delighted-to-sign-Japanese-internationalist-Kyogo-Furuhashi/), so perhaps Edwards is no longer required at Parkhead.

[Abada](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liel-abada/profil/spieler/519514) and [Furuhashi](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyogo-furuhashi/profil/spieler/489463) can play on the wing, so Postecoglou now has the new signings, [James Forrest, Mikey Johnston, Maryan Shved](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-fc/kader/verein/371/plus/0/galerie/0?saison_id=2021) and [Karamoko Dembele](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/karamoko-dembele/profil/spieler/466602) as wide options.

That could be more than enough for the new boss and it appears as if they may now miss out on Edwards.
