# Celtic: Loan to buy an option for Cameron Carter-Vickers

**Celtic could look to sign Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan with an option to buy, according to [The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/transfer-news-live-rangers-celtic-24666002.amp?__twitter_impression=true#live-event-entry-494077).**

### The Lowdown: Carter-Vickers profiled

Carter-Vickers has been [linked](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-newcastle-leapfrog-celtic-in-race-to-sign-carter-vickers-from-tottenham/) with a move to Parkhead for some time now.

The 23-year-old, primarily a [centre-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/profil/spieler/341049) who can also play at [right-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/profil/spieler/341049), has less than [12 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/profil/spieler/341049) remaining on his Spurs contract. He’s had [six](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/transfers/spieler/341049) separate loan spells away from Tottenham, one of which was with Luton Town, where then-team-mate Sonny Bradley described Carter-Vickers’ as [‘fantastic’](https://sbisoccer.com/2020/07/carter-vickers-continues-to-warrant-praise-at-luton-town).

[The USA international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/profil/spieler/341049) has made just [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/leistungsdaten/spieler/341049) appearances for Tottenham, and it seems as if he could be on the move yet again.

### The Latest: Loan to buy?

[The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/transfer-news-live-rangers-celtic-24666002.amp?__twitter_impression=true#live-event-entry-494077)’s live transfer blog on Monday (22:43) shared some interesting news on Celtic’s interest in Carter-Vickers.

They [suggested](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/cameron-carter-vickers-celtic-transfer-24664831.amp) that Carter-Vickers would want to leave on a permanent basis, if he does indeed depart north London this summer.

However, Celtic are thought to be exploring a loan with a possibility to buy for £5m, with [The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/transfer-news-live-rangers-celtic-24666002.amp?__twitter_impression=true#live-event-entry-494077) believing that is a ‘live option’.

### The Verdict: Could be Celtic’s biggest signing of the summer

It appears as if the Hoops are looking at a potential loan with an option to make it permanent next year.

However, should Celtic decide to sign Carter-Vickers this summer on a permanent basis instead, he seems likely to be the club’s most expensive addition of the window due to Spurs’ [£5m](https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/19434826.tottenham-reportedly-set-asking-price-carter-vickers/) valuation, surpassing a [£4.86m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371) deal for Kyogo Furuhashi.

It appears as if a deal for the American should be one to keep a close eye on, especially as Celtic are short of senior centre-back options following [Kristoffer Ajer’s exit](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11748/12356882/brentford-transfer-news-celtic-defender-kristoffer-ajer-signs-for-premier-league-newcomers) and [Christopher Jullien’s injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-fc/kader/verein/371/plus/0/galerie/0?saison_id=2021) and hence could look to push through a deal relatively quickly.
