# Celtic: Middlesbrough contact reported Hoops target Robbie Brady

**Middlesbrough have made contact with Celtic-[linked](https://www.burnleyexpress.net/sport/football/burnley-rumours-celtic-now-leading-race-for-former-burnley-winger-chelsea-preparing-bid-for-french-starlet-3388371?page=3) free agent Robbie Brady, according to [Football League World](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/exclusive-middlesbrough-make-contact-with-29-year-old-over-agreement-as-celtic-interest-lingers/).**

### The Lowdown: Celtic links

The 29-year-old, about whom Ange Postecoglou [spoke](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/celtic/ange-postecoglou-talks-possible-celtic-signings-as-he-addresses-robbie-brady-speculation-3345045) last month, has been linked with a move to Parkhead since [February](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/6679307/celtic-move-burnley-brady/).

[Reports](https://www.burnleyexpress.net/sport/football/burnley-rumours-celtic-now-leading-race-for-former-burnley-winger-chelsea-preparing-bid-for-french-starlet-3388371?page=3) over the weekend even claimed that the Hoops were front runners for his services, with nothing coming from other speculation linking the Irishman with moves to [Gaziantep](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/robbie-brady-transfer-burnley-gaziantep-21452821) and [Swansea City](https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/im-getting-texts-every-day-21563360).

It now seems as if Celtic have another contender to fend off in their reported attempts to land the [versatile](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robbie-brady/leistungsdaten/spieler/128229) wide midfielder.

### The Latest: Boro contact

[Football League World](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/exclusive-middlesbrough-make-contact-with-29-year-old-over-agreement-as-celtic-interest-lingers/) shared a story on Monday morning suggesting that Middlesbrough have been in touch with the 29-year-old, who is still without a club since [leaving Burnley](https://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/content/brady-ends-burnley-stay) in the summer.

The report credits Celtic with interest when discussing the Teessiders’ involvement in the race for Brady’s services.

### The Verdict: Time for Nicholson to act?

Michael Nicholson is Celtic’s [interim](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/who-michael-nicholson-celtic-acting-24958734) CEO following Dominic McKay’s abrupt departure, so he may have to act fast if Ange Postecoglou wants to bring Brady to Glasgow.

All parties will need to be on board over a possible move, though, with recent [reports](https://theathletic.co.uk/2834532/2021/09/19/celtics-midfield-is-too-porous-without-mcgregor-and-there-is-no-effective-plan-b/?article_source=search&search_query=devlin) suggesting that Postecoglou and his scouts didn’t have meaningful input in James McCarthy’s Celtic Park arrival.

If everyone at the club agrees that Brady would be a shrewd signing, now is the time to make a move.
