Celtic striker Albian Ajeti is reportedly 'looking to leave' Parkhead before the end of the transfer window, according to Anthony Joseph

The lowdown: Struggles

Signed for £4.5million from West Ham United in 2020 (BBC), Ajeti arrived in Scotland with major expectations and was expected to be a hit at Celtic Park.

However, the 25-year-old Switzerland international has struggled to have the desired impact for the Hoops, directly contributing to just 14 goals in 48 outings for the Bhoys.

Despite being under contract until 2025, now it appears that there is a willingness from all parties to find a solution prior to the transfer deadline...

The latest: 'Time is running out'

Taking to Twitter, Sky Sports reporter Joseph claimed that the 11-cap ace is keen on an exit but is now getting desperate given the lack of enticing offers.

He stated: “Celtic striker Albian Ajeti is looking to leave the club before the end of the transfer window. Celtic will not stand in his way & are open to offers. It's understood Ajeti hasn't been convinced by the clubs who have expressed an interest, so far, but knows time is running out.”

The verdict: Fingers crossed

Clearly out of favour having not featured at all this term and having barely been used by Ange Postecoglou following the manager's appointment, a move away from the club would undoubtedly be the best option for all parties.

Last season, Ajeti - who was hailed as a 'wonderful' player by Albania president Ilir Meta - scored three times and provided one assist in 17 appearances across all competitions.

Some way behind Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada, Giorgios Giakoumakis and new signing Saed Haksabanovic in the attacking pecking order at Lennoxtown, finding a way out for Ajeti and freeing up the £18,000 per week salary of the wage bill in the process would be a welcome result for the Celtic hierarchy.
