Celtic will hand Ange Postecoglou a big summer transfer budget, should the Hoops qualify for the Champions League, Football Insider report.

The Lowdown: Cup win

The Hoops followed up a 3-1 Scottish Premiership victory over Hearts in the week with a 3-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final win at Tynecastle on Saturday.

Goals from Aaron Mooy, Kyogo Furuhashi and Cameron Carter-Vickers booked Celtic’s spot in the last four, with Postecoglou’s side on course to complete a domestic treble.

The win was Celtic’s 13th straight victory in all competitions, and there was an exciting off-field update to follow.

The Latest: Celtic update

FI reporter Pete O’Rourke shared a transfer update he’s heard out of Celtic Park on Saturday evening.

He stated that the Hoops, ‘led by main shareholder Dermot Desmond will grant Postecoglou a big summer kitty if the club are back in Europe’s elite competition next term.’

The Verdict: Exciting

Postecoglou has transformed things at Celtic Park and is seemingly keen to carry on his good work in Scotland by once again being active in the summer window.

He has been linked with a number of Premier League jobs this season, most recently Tottenham, so having the backing of Desmond in the transfer window could keep him content in Glasgow.

It is certainly exciting to know that Celtic could spend big over the coming months, should they qualify for the Champions League, potentially leading to more shrewd additions such as Saturday’s goal scorers Furuhashi and Carter-Vickers, who completed big-money deals at Parkhead under Postecoglou.
