Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou will still be considering whether taking the Brighton and Hove Albion job is the right decision, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: Brighton target Postecoglou

The Times have reported that the 57-year-old has been identified as a strong contender to replace Graham Potter at the Amex having left to join Chelsea, with the Seagulls having received impressive feedback over what he has to offer.

Contrary to those claims, it was then reported that the Australian currently has no plans to leave Parkhead, though talks of the boss being offered a new deal by the Hoops’ hierarchy have yet to materialise, leaving his future with the Scottish Premiership side up in the air.

The Latest: Jones’ word of warning

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones believes that Postecoglou should stay at Celtic, but certainly didn't rule out a move, believing the boss needs to 'think very seriously' on the situation:

“I think he would have to think very seriously about whether leaving Celtic right now is the right move.

“The bond he has created with the fanbase is great and they are in a fantastic position to leave Rangers behind this season.

“Steven Gerrard left Rangers for Aston Villa and that isn’t going great so far, so leaving Celtic for Brighton isn’t a guaranteed good career move either.”

The Verdict: Stay at Parkhead

Whilst Brighton will be seen as an attractive prospect currently sitting fourth in the English top-flight, Postecoglou staying at Celtic should be a no-brainer.

The Bhoys manager has been a revelation during his first season in charge in Glasgow, leading his side to both the Scottish Premiership and League Cup titles, alongside qualifying for the Champions League.

European football is something that the Seagulls can’t currently offer, so Ange should be looking to continue his success story north of the border for many more years to come.
