Celtic target and FC Luzern midfielder Ardon Jashari has spoken out on transfer rumours linking him with a potential move to Parkhead.

The Lowdown: Hoops keen

The Hoops have already made three signings during the winter window. Yuki Kobayashi, Alistair Johnston and Tomoki Iwata have all arrived in Glasgow, and it looks like the club wants further additions.

Sky Sports claimed on the weekend that Celtic are vying for Jashari’s services alongside RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, Leeds United and Napoli.

The Latest: Jashari’s comments

Swiss outlet Luzerner Zeitung shared comments from Jashari in the last 48 hours following the recent transfer speculation. He admitted he’s ‘heard about the rumours’ but added that he is currently happy at FC Luzern and is looking forward to returning to action for his current employers.

“I heard about the rumours.

“There’s no getting around that. But I’m happy now that I can get back on the pitch to train with the team.

“I have now completed two days of training with FCL. For me, the focus is clearly on Luzern, so that I can prepare well and without injury. The timing would have to be right for me to decide to switch now.”

The Verdict: Next up after Cho Gue-sung?

Any club wanting to sign Jashari will need to pay around €6m-€7m (£5.3m-£6.2m), a figure which you’d like to think is realistic for Celtic.

However, their main focus now appears to be on South Korean forward Cho Gue-sung, with Celtic in pole position for his services after tabling an offer worth £2.2m.

Should they finalise a deal for the striker, then perhaps they could look to move for Jashari, who appears to be a future star at the age of 20 and is described as an ‘exciting’ talent by members of the media.
