Atletico Madrid will scout Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic in Croatia’s World Cup quarter-final with Brazil, according to The Scottish Sun.

The Lowdown: Celtic stance

The Hoops have recently brought in Canada right-back Alistair Johnston from CF Montreal, who appears to be a long-term replacement for Juranovic.

Contract talks have stalled with the 27-year-old and reports have suggested that Celtic are confident of agreeing on a £5m-plus January sale.

Juranovic has played every minute of action for Croatia in Qatar and looks set to have admirers in attendance for this afternoon’s last-eight tie.

The Latest: Transfer update

The Scottish Sun’s David Friel provided an update on Wednesday evening regarding Juranovic.

He said that Atletico will watch the full-back ‘as they eye a £10m-plus January move’, with fellow La Liga side Real Sociedad also keen on the Hoops star.

The Verdict: No-brainer?

It seems as if Celtic may receive an offer of around £10m from Atletico for Juranovic, which is double what they were apparently confident of receiving earlier this month.

If that offer arrives in Glasgow, then it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Hoops officials were quick to accept. It doesn’t look as if the defender has any plans to extend his Parkhead contract, so making a healthy profit after signing Juranovic for around £2.5m last year could be a no-brainer.
