Celtic: Chris Sutton fears ‘inevitable’ Ange Postecoglou exit

Celtic: Chris Sutton fears ‘inevitable’ Ange Postecoglou exit -Celtic News

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton believes that it is only natural that Hoops manager Ange Postecoglou will eventually leave Parkhead for ‘another huge club’.

The Lowdown: Ange loved at Celtic

The Australian has proven to be a wonderful managerial appointment for Celtic, winning the Premiership title at his first attempt and getting them back into the Champions League group stage for the first time in five years.

Postecoglou has got the Hoops playing some of their most exciting football in years and they even caused European champions Real Madrid a few problems in midweek despite their 0-3 defeat.

In many ways, the 57-year-old is the most important figure at Celtic currently, but with his reputation being enhanced all the time, other clubs could be looking to snap him up.

The Latest: Sutton talks up exit

Indeed, there are some reports linking Postecoglou with the vacancy at Premier League club Brighton following Graham Potter’s sudden departure to Chelsea.

Taking to Twitter in sharing his column for the Daily Record, Sutton believes that it is only a matter of time before the Celtic manager takes a job at ‘another huge club’, stating:

“Ange Postecoglou’s reputation is growing all the time and it’s inevitable that he will move on eventually to another huge club in time.”

However, Sutton argued in his column that he doesn’t see Postecoglou taking the Brighton job, believing that it would be a downgrade for the 57-year-old.

Celtic fans! Do you remember who scored your first league goal of the 21/22 season?

The Verdict: Sad day if it happens

Celtic supported may be worried by the former Parkhead’s claim on Postecoglou’s future, perhaps hoping that he will remain their manager for many years to come.

It is clear that his reputation is growing by the week, though, especially now that the Hoops are in the Champions League and not overawed at that level, and it’s no surprise that someone like Brighton could even see him as an ideal replacement for Potter.

Will Postecoglou sign a new deal?

For now, Celtic should simply enjoy Postecoglou and hope that he delivers another league title and some more memorable European nights this season.
