Reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed there has been interest from the Premier League in Celtic striker Georgios Giakoumakis.

The lowdown: Big impact

Signed from Dutch outfit VVV-Venlo for £2.25million last summer, Giakoumakis scored seven games with injury issues.

The 27-year-old Greece international also netted four times in just three outings in the Scottish Cup as the Hoops lifted the Scottish Premiership title for the 52nd time.

Now, it appears as though the exploits of Giakoumakis haven't gone unnoticed as clubs from south of the border and beyond take an interest in the frontman's services...

The latest: 'In the last few days'

Taking to Twitter overnight in the early hours of the morning (4:41 AM), Romano revealed that the 11-cap star has been 'approached' by a number of Premier League clubs.

He stated: “There were clubs interested in Georgios Giakoumakis as he's doing great with Celtic, also approached by Premier League clubs in the last few days. Celtic have absolutely no intention to sell him: untouchable.

"He's key player - also, Giakoumakis is happy at Celtic.”

The verdict: No surprise

Given the impressive debut campaign, it's hardly a shock that clubs would come knocking for the Greek centre-forward, however, it is refreshing to see that he's clearly settled at Parkhead.

Hailed as 'class' by equally sought-after teammate Josip Juranovic following a hat-trick in the 3-2 Scottish Premier League victory over Dundee, Giakoumakis has also made a bright start to the 2022/23 season, scoring once in the opening three matches.

Holding an estimated market value of £3.6million and under contract at Celtic Park until 2026 (Transfermarkt), the Hoops' hierarchy certainly hold all the cards when it comes to deciding the striker's future and at present, it certainly appears as though this interest is nothing to worry about for Ange Postecoglou.
