Celtic have received a big injury boost ahead of the weekend clash with Ross County, with Giorgos Giakoumakis spotted back in training ahead of the game.

The Lowdown: Celtic visit Ross County

Ange Postecoglou's side are back in Scottish Premiership action on Sunday afternoon, as they make the trip to Ross County for another crucial clash.

Celtic are six points clear of Rangers going into the weekend fixtures but their rivals may have narrowed that gap to three by the time the match kicks off, as they visit Motherwell on Saturday lunchtime.

There have been doubts over Giakoumakis' involvement in proceedings, with Chris Sutton left worried by the lack of a focal point without the Greek front man, but a new update should give supporters plenty to be positive about.

The Latest: Giakoumakis back in action

According to an image shared by The Scottish Daily Express, the 27 year-old returned to training at Lennoxtown on Friday, suggesting he is in contention to start at Ross County.

Giakoumakis hasn't featured since the 7-0 win at home to St Johnstone on April 9th, missing last Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Rangers because of a hamstring injury.

The Verdict: Massive boost for Hoops

This is an undoubted boost for the Hoops ahead of another huge afternoon in the title race, given the impact Giakoumakis has made this season.

The 27-year-old has scored nine goals in just 16 league appearances and his presence leading the line was much-missed in the aforementioned cup loss at Hampden Park, as Sutton alluded to.

If deemed fit enough, Giakoumakis should go straight back into Postecoglou's starting lineup, as his side look to edge one step closer to regaining their league crown.
