Celtic are reportedly interested in signing exciting youngster Calvin Ramsay on loan next season, following his imminent move to Liverpool.
The Lowdown: Ramsay joins Reds
The 18-year-old has made a name for himself at Aberdeen in the past 12 months, standing out as one of Scottish football’s brightest young talents.
Ramsay is now on the verge of completing a high-profile summer move to Liverpool, with a £6.5million deal agreed earlier this week.
The right-back is considered the perfect deputy for Trent Alexander-Arnold, although he will clearly find it hard to usurp the Englishman moving forward.
The Latest: Hoops want loan signing
According to The Mirror, Celtic are one of the clubs keen on taking Ramsay on loan next season, with Rangers and a host of Championship clubs also mentioned in the report.
Jurgen Klopp isn’t currently planning on loaning out the youngster in 2022/23, however, which could scupper the Hoops’ chances.
The Verdict: Ideal for all parties?
While Klopp is likely to hold firm in his use of Ramsay next term, he could be a superb temporary signing for Celtic if the German changes his mind, adding quality and depth to the squad.
Will Postecoglou sign a new deal?
He would earn more minutes than he would at Liverpool, unless Alexander-Arnold picked up an injury, allowing him to continue his progress and mature as a player.
Ramsay has been described as an ‘elite’ prospect by Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack and it would be thrilling to see him bombing down the right flank at Parkhead, having registered nine assists in 39 Dons appearances.
