Celtic have made a move for Aberdeen starlet Lewis Pirie, but he now looks set to remain at Pittodrie, according to The Daily Record.

The Lowdown: Three in…

The Hoops have made a head start with the January window officially opening tomorrow with deals already reached for three players.

Celtic announced the signing of Tomoki Iwata on Friday, with the midfielder following in the footsteps of defenders Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston.

It seems as if the club also have an eye on adding to their academy ranks, with an update emerging on attacker Pirie.

The Latest: Pirie move

The Daily Record said in their live transfer blog (12:30pm, 30th December) that the Hoops ‘made a move’ for Pirie.

However, it doesn’t look as if it will prove successful, with the 15-year-old ‘set to stay at Aberdeen for the season’.

The Verdict: Blow for Ange

Pirie has been hailed as an 'exciting' prospect by Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin, with the youngster also linked with Wolves, Leeds and Fulham in recent months.

Celtic could have been landing a future star in Pirie, who, as of November 26, had already scored 33 goals for club and country, so this update will come as a blow to the Hoops and by extension, manager Ange Postecoglou.

Who knows, the club may continue to track the player and try their luck in the summer, so it could still be one to watch.
