Following a difficult 2020/21 campaign Celtic are now in with a chance of completing a domestic treble under Ange Postecoglou.

Having already overcome Hibernian to lift the Scottish League cup trophy, the Hoops are unbeaten in seven matches across all competitions, six points clear at the summit of the Scottish Premiership and preparing for a Scottish Cup semi-final against Old Firm rivals Rangers on Sunday (April 17).

Speaking to 67HailHail, the man who made more than 300 appearances for Celtic claimed that the onus is all on Rangers to perform, revealing the mood around Lennoxtown is as high as ever…

“In terms of the two teams and where the two teams are just now, Celtic are in a really strong position.

“Confidence wise, team-wise, energy in the camp, they’ve got so many options there as well with players coming back.

“The pressure is all on Rangers.”

The verdict: Spot on

Whilst there may still be pressure on the Bhoys to get the job done and move towards a remarkable treble, the work already achieved in restoring belief by Postecoglou means that there is a quiet content amongst the ranks.

Meanwhile, despite qualifying for the Europa League semi-finals, Rangers need to achieve on the domestic front and indeed overcome Celtic in order to truly welcome their own new manager in Giovanni van Bronkhorst.

As for the aforementioned wealth of options, Kyogo Furuhashi’s return to the fold against St Johnstone will be a welcome boost to the Hoops’ squad ahead of the all-important run-in.
