Celtic: Hoops complete signing of Justin Osagie -Celtic News

Celtic have completed the signing of West Ham United youngster Justin Osagie, according to reports in the last 48 hours.

The Lowdown: Summer of negotiations

The defender joined the Irons following a spell with Southend United, and his performances in the youth ranks at the London Stadium clearly caught the eye.

The Hoops had been in advanced talks to sign the 17-year-old for the majority of the summer, and after weeks of negotiations, the talented prospect has now swapped the Premier League for the Scottish Premiership.

The Latest: Celtic complete Osagie deal

According to the Daily Record, Michael Nicholson and the Hoops hierarchy have now agreed a deal to sign Osagie ‘on a three-year contract’, and he will link up with their ‘B team squad’.

It’s stated that he will be playing in the ‘Lowland League under coaches Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus’.

The Verdict: Another star in the making?

Francis Turley recently put pen to paper in Glasgow from Glentoran, and Osagie is now following in his footsteps to be the next player to walk through the doors north of the border.

The ‘highly rated’ youngster, as dubbed by former BBC journalist Fraser Fletcher, has already been selected to represent the Republic of Ireland’s U19s, despite only making one appearance for the Hammers before making the switch.

Is Osagie a good signing for the academy?

Osagie will have no doubt been looking for a fresh challenge given his lack of game time in London and it’s great to see the Bhoys building for the future after losing a few youngsters of their own.
