Celtic: Romano issues worrying update on Josip Juranovic -Celtic News

Celtic’s Josip Juranovic is “on the radar for many clubs” after what has been a strong World Cup showing with Croatia, who are now through to the Quarter-Finals.

The Lowdown: First-choice

Having started all four of Croatia’s World Cup games, £16k-per-week Juranovic has been able to showcase his ability on football’s biggest stage.

Ultimately, the 27-year-old is building on the momentum sustained from last season, in what was a very impressive debut campaign for Celtic under Ange Postecoglou.

The full-back is a threat from deep and already has an assist to his name this tournament, which came in a game that saw him register six passes into the final third.

Juranovic’s stock is rising fast, with a move away from Celtic Park in the near future looking increasingly likely.

The Latest: Romano update

According to Fabrizio Romano, the aforementioned performances have seen Juranovic’s name “on the radar for many clubs” and Celtic are ready to “open” negotiations.

Taking to his personal Twitter page, Romano said: “Josip Juranović on the radar for many clubs after a strong World Cup for Croatia at right back.

“Celtic are open to discuss offers as they’ve already secured a replacement in Alistair Johnston incase Juranovic leaves in the next transfer windows.”

The Verdict: Postecoglou’s prep

Having already signed a right-back in Johnston, who also shone in Qatar, it looks as though Postecoglou is perhaps expecting the Croatian’s imminent departure, having been at Parkhead for just over a season.

Amidst the hype surrounding him as a result of the World Cup, the move could occur sooner than many would think, with Romano stating a timeframe spanning across “the next transfer windows.”

Either way, Celtic are prepared, and while it will be a blow to lose such a talented individual, the swift move to sign Johnston should alleviate some concerns from the Hoops faithful.
