Celtic are on the verge of completing the signing of Suwon Bluewings forward Hyeon-gyu Oh, Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has claimed.

The Lowdown: Oh strongly linked with Celtic

The Hoops have been strongly linked with a move for the 21-year-old during the January transfer window as Ange Postecoglou looks for attacking reinforcements.

Both Giorgos Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda have been linked with a move away from Parkhead this month, which could leave Celtic depleted up front.

However, it looks as though the Hoops will get one important piece of transfer business over the line, following a recent update.

The Latest: Move almost complete

Taking to Twitter on Sunday night, Joseph said that the signing of Oh should be completed this week, following a £2.5m agreement with Suwon.

The journalist outlined:

"UPDATE: Celtic have agreed a £2.5m deal with Suwon Bluewings to sign striker Hyeon-Gyu Oh. The South Korea international, 21, has verbally agreed personal terms and is expected to finalise the move this week."

The Verdict: Strong signing by Celtic

This is an exciting signing for Celtic, who continue their trend of having a nucleus of talented Asian players in their squad at the same time.

At 21, Oh will come in as a long-term acquisition who should only improve with age, while his tally of 14 goals in 53 appearances for Bluewings shows that he is already providing consistent end product.

Capped once by South Korea, he could fill the potential void left by Giakmoumakis or Maeda if either of those depart, initially coming in as a squad player but hopefully growing into a crucial figure over time.
