Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic has reportedly held talks with Serie A side Torino over a move to the club, as his Hoops exit looks increasingly likely.

The Lowdown: Juranovic's stock rises at World Cup

The 27-year-old's domestic future was surrounded by doubt going into the 2022 World Cup and he has come out of it with his reputation enhanced greatly.

Juranovic was magnificent for Croatia during the tournament, starting six games and averaging two tackles per outing, reaching the semi-finals and producing a string of energetic, influential performances down the right flank.

It has led to increased interest in the defender and a new update has now emerged.

The Latest: Torino in talks

According to Sky Italia [via Sport Witness], Torino have 'initiated the first contacts' with Juranovic over a move to the club during the January transfer window.

They have 'set their sights' on the Celtic star after his displays in Qatar and are confident discussions have been conducted in a 'fruitful manner' to date, with an initial loan expected to be accompanied by a permanent clause in the summer.

The Verdict: Matter of time?

Sadly, it does feel as though Juranovic's future lies away from Parkhead and it would now be a big surprise if he was still at the club beyond January.

The Croatian may feel that he has outgrown the Bhoys, especially after such a starring role on the world stage, and the signing of fellow right-back Alistair Johnston mow makes more sense.

Ideally, Juranovic would end up staying until the end of the season, aiding the Hoops' pursuit of more silverware, but a move to a big European club feels far more likely, with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona also sniffing around.
