Celtic: Reo Hatate ruled out of Ross County clash

Celtic: Reo Hatate ruled out of Ross County clash -Celtic News

Celtic star Reo Hatate will miss his side’s Scottish Premiership clash with Ross County through injury, reports Sky Sports News reporter Alison Conroy.

The Lowdown: First away day of the season

The Hoops won 2-0 at home to Aberdeen in their season opener last Sunday, making a successful start to the defence of their league crown.

On Saturday afternoon, Ange Postecoglou’s side make the trip to Ross County, looking to keep up their early 100 per cent record, not giving Rangers an inch in the process.

Celtic look relatively healthy in the injury department going into the game – Carl Starfelt is available – but there is one noticeable absentee.

The Latest: Hatate misses out

Taking to Twitter on Friday, Sky Sports’ Conroy confirmed that Hatate would miss out after suffering a ‘knock’ in the victory over Aberdeen:

“No Reo Hatate for Celtic vs Ross County after he picked up a knock on Sunday.”

Celtic fans! Do you remember who scored your first league goal of the 21/22 season?

The Verdict: Big loss

Hatate has become an important figure since joining Celtic at the beginning of this year, scoring four goals and registering two assists in 12 league starts last season, so his absence this weekend is a clear blow – John McGinn has hailed him as ‘outrageous’ in the past, such is his quality.

Will Postecoglou sign a new deal?

That being said, the Hoops should still be too strong for a County side who finished sixth last season and suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Hearts on the opening weekend.

David Turnbull replaced Hatate midway through the second half last weekend and the youngster could be handed a start in his place on Saturday, as he looks to continue developing his vast potential for Celtic.
