Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate could be the subject of interest from a number of clubs in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports' Anthony Joseph.

The Lowdown: Hatate a key figure

The 24-year-old has largely been a regular under Ange Postecoglou since arriving from Kawasaki Frontale earlier this year, making seven starts in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Hatate has scored six goals and registered five assists in a total of 36 appearances for the Hoops, being hailed as 'outrageous' by Aston Villa's John McGinn.

Unfortunately, some possible exit news has now emerged regarding the Japanese.

The Latest: January exit possible

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Joseph admitted that Hatate could put himself in the shop window at the World Cup, ahead of a possible January departure:

"It wouldn't surprise me after going out of the Champions League and let's see how the World Cup goes.

"The World Cup and playing in the Champions League will be a huge thing for the likes of Hatate, Josip Juranovic and Jota."

The Verdict: Potential big blow

Losing Hatate midway through the campaign would be a clear blow for Celtic, considering his importance in the middle of the park and the quality he brings.

Granted, he may not start every game for the Hoops but his average of 1.3 tackles and 1.2 key passes per game in the league this season highlight his ability on and off the ball.

If Hatate is to leave Celtic, a summer exit would be far more preferable, although the hope is that he remains a key figure at Parkhead for years to come.
