Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi is being monitored by Crystal Palace ahead of a potential move this summer, according to reports in the last 48 hours.

The Lowdown: Standout performer

The Japanese international first arrived in Glasgow back in 2021 and has since taken the Scottish Premiership by storm with his impressive performances under Ange Postecoglou.

The Hoops talisman’s contract isn’t set to expire until 2025, but being the league’s top goalscorer as it stands so far this season, he’s generating plenty of interest leading into the upcoming transfer window, particularly in the direction of Selhurst Park.

The Latest: Palace eyeing Furuhashi

According to Football Insider, Palace are ‘keeping tabs’ and ‘scouting’ Furuhashi as they weigh up whether to make an approach in the summer, with the forward a player high on their wishlist.

The Bhoys, however, ‘do not want to lose’ the 28-year-old and could therefore be forced into ‘offering’ him an extension in a bid to fend off this attention from the capital.

The Verdict: Fresh terms deserved

Furuhashi is a Postecoglou and supporters’ favourite at Celtic, and given his consistently high level of performance, rewarding him with a new deal would be nothing less than he deserves.

The Parkhead attacker has posted an astonishing 51 goal contributions in 66 appearances during his time north of the border and played an integral part in his side winning the Scottish Premiership and League Cup titles in 2021/22.

Furuhashi has also been praised for his ‘sensational’ return in the final third by journalist Josh Bunting, so taking all this into consideration, the club need to do everything they can to keep hold of him for the foreseeable future.
