# Celtic: No contact made for Ofir Marciano

**Celtic have been [linked](https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/ofir-marciano-breaks-silence-on-hibs-future-as-he-hints-at-summer-exit-amid-premier-league-claim-3157674) with a move for Hibernian goalkeeper Ofir Marciano in recent months.**

The Hoops were [reportedly monitoring](https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/ofir-marciano-breaks-silence-on-hibs-future-as-he-hints-at-summer-exit-amid-premier-league-claim-3157674) the 31-year-old, who has [turned down a new deal](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-transfer-stance-ofir-maricano-23802878) at Easter Road and is set to leave the club for nothing this summer.

### No contact made by Celtic

The [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-transfer-stance-ofir-maricano-23802878) has provided an update on a potential Parkhead move for the Israel international. They claimed that [no contact has been made from the Hoops](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-transfer-stance-ofir-maricano-23802878), with Hapoel Be’er Sheva thought to be leading the way for his services.

Marciano is [close friends with Celtic’s Nir Bitton](https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/ofir-marciano-breaks-silence-on-hibs-future-as-he-hints-at-summer-exit-amid-premier-league-claim-3157674), but it doesn’t seem as if the Hoops have stepped up their interest in the Hibs ace, who has [24 caps for Israel](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ofir-marciano/nationalmannschaft/spieler/112008/verein_id/5547).

### Transfer Tavern take

Celtic have had their issues in goal this season, so we thought the club may have made a move for Marciano as a result.

He has outperformed both Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas in recent months, as per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/). Marciano’s Scottish Premiership average match rating this season stands at [6.74](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136068/Show/Ofir-Marciano) – a better score than Bain’s [6.61](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/103/Show/Scotland-Celtic) and Barkas’ [6.49](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/103/Show/Scotland-Celtic).

The Israeli has also picked up a [man of the match award](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136068/Show/Ofir-Marciano) this season, something the two Celtic shot-stoppers have failed to do, so hopefully the Hoops will make their move for the 31-year-old before it’s too late.
