# Celtic: Noel Whelan believes Claudio Bravo could be a great signing for the club

**Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has been giving his opinion on the latest rumours suggesting that Claudio Bravo is a transfer target for Celtic and he is raving over the idea of the goalkeeper signing for the Hoops.**

The Manchester City goalkeeper is currently [backup to Ederson](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/leistungsdaten/verein/281), who has emerged as a great talent since his move to the Premier League, and to have the Chilean as cover shows how strong the City squad is as Bravo has a wealth of experience in [Europe,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/claudio-bravo/profil/spieler/40423) both in England and in La Liga, along with [123 international caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/claudio-bravo/nationalmannschaft/spieler/40423/verein_id/3700).

According to a report from [The Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5652666/man-city-claudio-bravo-celtic-transfer/), the 37-year-old is among a list of options which includes Ben Foster and Joe Hart if Celtic cannot keep Fraser Forster following his loan deal.

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-celtic-tipped-to-sign-immense-man-city-player-after-reliable-source-update/) about the goalkeeper rumours at Celtic, Whelan said, *“Neil Lennon is looking for somebody that has got a wealth of experience.* *They want somebody that knows the game and knows how to command the back four.*

*“You have got to have a goalkeeper you can trust. It gives confidence to the back four. They need to know they have got somebody secure in between the sticks who is talking all the time – that comes with experience.*

*“You do not look any further than Claudio Bravo. He has immense experience.”*

It’s hard to disagree with Whelan here – Bravo’s experience includes being a Champions League winner with Barcelona, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/claudio-bravo/erfolge/spieler/40423), whilst also winning the Copa America twice with Chile, and to be able to get a player who has such a good winning mentality (having lifted [16 trophies](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/claudio-bravo/erfolge/spieler/40423) in his career) should be a huge boost for the Hoops.

As Celtic seek to make history next season by becoming the first team in Scotland to win 10 league titles in a row (as per [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/537546/celtic-vs-rangers-who-has-won-more-scottish-premiership-titles/)), bringing in someone like Bravo could be ideal in helping to achieve this remarkable feat.
