# Celtic: Odsonne Edouard update emerges

**Ligue 1 side Nice are submitting a bid for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/campbell-edouards-celtic-exit-inevitable-after-sources-striker-bid-update/).**

### The Lowdown: Giakoumakis to arrive?

The Hoops appear to be making progress in bringing a striker in of their own before the end of the month.

[Reports](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/georgios-giakoumakis-celtic-transfer-talks-24777756) linked Celtic with a move for VVV-Venlos’s Georgios Giakoumakis earlier in the week, and it is believed that a bid has now been [accepted](https://twitter.com/DuncanCastles/status/1428340654409715717) for the [Greece international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georgios-giakoumakis/profil/spieler/234850).

It could well be a case of one in, one out at Celtic Park, with an update provided on Nice’s [links](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-nice-launch-bid-to-sign-celtic-star-edouard/) with Edouard.

### The Latest: Source shares update

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/campbell-edouards-celtic-exit-inevitable-after-sources-striker-bid-update/) shared a story on Thursday where pundit Kevin Campbell gave his thoughts on the situation.

In their report, they shared the latest from a Celtic source, who claimed that a bid is being submitted by Nice. They didn’t share how much that would be worth, but it is understood the Hoops may have to accept less than £20m.

### The Verdict: Sell

Edouard has been a fine servant to Celtic and has been a [regular](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdaten/spieler/344152) under Ange Postecoglou this season, but with the forward [working](https://www.givemesport.com/1725151-exclusive-odsonne-edouard-still-working-on-celtic-exit-after-leicester-transfer-snub) on a Parkhead exit, the club should look to sell if they land Giakoumakis.

The 23-year-old, labelled as [‘superb’](https://thisisfutbol.com/2020/08/blogs/scottish-premier-league/celtic-pundits-praise-odsonne-edouard/) by Darryl Broadfoot and hailed by [John Hartson](https://thisisfutbol.com/2020/08/blogs/scottish-premier-league/celtic-pundits-praise-odsonne-edouard/) last year, is into the [final 12 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/profil/spieler/344152) of his contract.

If Celtic don’t cash in this month, they could risk losing him for nothing over the coming months, not exactly ideal when the Hoops were after [£40m](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8678361/Celtic-want-40m-Odsonne-Edouard-club-owe-PSG-40-cent-sell-fee.html) last summer.

He’d be free to discuss a possible pre-contract agreement in the New Year, so it seems to be the time for Dominic McKay to cash in if the incoming bid from Nice is reasonable.
