# Celtic: OGC Nice launch Odsonne Edouard transfer bid

**Celtic star Odsonne Edouard is being targeted by Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice, with an offer expected to be submitted imminently, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-nice-launch-bid-to-sign-celtic-star-edouard/).**

### The Lowdown: Speculation has followed Edouard all summer

Well into competitive football in 2021/22, Hoops manager Ange Postecoglou will be under no illusions that there is still work to be done regarding activity surrounding the much-needed rebuild at Parkhead this summer.

High-profile exits have been mooted for multiple different players over the last couple of months, none more so than 23-year-old Edouard, who has been followed by relentless speculation surrounding his future \[[The Scotsman](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/celtic/latest-twist-in-odsonne-edouard-celtic-exit-saga-epl-side-look-to-gazump-move-for-parkhead-target-hearts-in-contract-talks-with-scottish-international-scottish-premiership-rumour-mill-3341649)\].

Could he now be set to move back to his native France after recent developments?

### The Latest: Nice inform Celtic of their interest in Edouard

As relayed by a [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-nice-launch-bid-to-sign-celtic-star-edouard/) recruitment source, Nice have informed Celtic of their admiration towards the [6ft 2in](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/profil/spieler/344152) ace, whilst an offer is said to be in the post.

The French top-flight club are keen to do a deal before the end of this month, whilst the Bhoys are likely to accept a bid of under £20m due to his [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/profil/spieler/344152) in Glasgow expiring next year.

### The Verdict: Celtic should sell Edouard

Interest in Edouard from a well-respected club such as Nice will come as a positive boost to the Celtic hierarchy. Unlikely to sign an extension at the Hoops, it makes sense to try and recoup a profit on the £9m they paid for his services back in 2018 \[[Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11787/11405737/odsonne-edouard-signs-four-year-deal-with-celtic)\].

In 2020/21, Edouard was in commendable form for Celtic, registering 28 goal contributions in 40 appearances with 22 goals and six assists \[[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdaten/spieler/344152/plus/0?saison=2020)\]. Furthermore, his rate of 3.5 shots per game in the Premiership frequently troubled opposition defences \[[WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317504/History/Odsonne-Edouard)\].

Once labelled as ‘magnificent’ by former Celtic manager Neil Lennon \[[Glasgow Live](https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/magnificent-celtic-star-odsonne-edouard-19524116)\], the Hoops should look to cut their losses on the France under-21 international to avoid losing him for nothing in the future.
