# Celtic: Report provides Hendry update

**KV Oostende are keen to take up their option of making Jack Hendry’s loan move permanent in the summer, however, his stay in Belgium could be short-lived.**

According to sources close to [Give Me Sport](https://www.givemesport.com/1675570-celtic-transfer-exclusive-oostende-line-up-jack-hendry-permanent-deal-with-plan-in-mind), the Jupiler Pro League side are looking to make the centre-back’s deal permanent over the coming months.

They add a damning seven-word detail on the Belgian outfit’s interest in the [£8,000-a-week](https://footballleaguefc.com/celtic-fc-player-wages/) Hoops man; ‘if only to sell him on quickly’.

### Premier League interest in Hendry

[Reports](https://www.90min.com/posts/celtic-miss-out-transfer-fee-over-jack-hendry) back in March suggested that up to eight Premier League sides have shown an interest in the [Scotland international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-hendry/profil/spieler/363223), with Oostende well aware of that situation.

It seems as if they’ll therefore look to activate a clause to sign the player for around a reported [£1.75m](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/6574089/celtic-175m-oostende-purchase-option-hendry/) and could then move him on for bigger money fairly swiftly.

### Transfer Tavern take

Celtic, in our view, will only have themselves to blame if they miss out on millions this summer.

The Hoops only signed Hendry, described as a[‘leader’](https://thecelticstar.com/tower-of-experience-oostende-boss-on-jack-hendry-hes-one-of-the-best-defenders-in-the-league/), for [£1.44m back in 2018](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-hendry/transfers/spieler/363223), so they’ll be in line to make just a £310,000 profit.

Hendry’s Parkhead deal runs until [2022](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-hendry/profil/spieler/363223), so it’s not as if the club were under major pressure to make a long-term decision last summer.

Oostende feel that they [could sell the defender for £10m in the upcoming window](https://www.90min.com/posts/celtic-miss-out-transfer-fee-over-jack-hendry), resulting in an £8.25m profit.

It remains to be seen if a move to the Premier League will materialise, but the Hoops may well be hoping it doesn’t or they will certainly have egg on their faces.
