# Celtic: Ross Doohan set for Tranmere loan

**Celtic goalkeeper Ross Doohan is set to join Tranmere Rovers on loan this week, according to [The Herald](https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/19489031.celtics-ross-doohan-complete-tranmere-rovers-season-long-loan-joe-hart-signs-parkhead/).**

### The Lowdown: Hart signed

The Hoops made a [double signing](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/august/Double-signing-delight-as-Joe-Hart-and-James-McCarthy-join-Celtic/) on Tuesday, bringing in Joe Hart from Tottenham and free agent James McCarthy.

Hart, who was on [£30,000 per week](https://salarysport.com/football/player/joe-hart/) with Spurs, penned a [three-year deal](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/august/Double-signing-delight-as-Joe-Hart-and-James-McCarthy-join-Celtic/) at Parkhead which is thought to be worth [£15,000 per week](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1422297380435673089).

That development appears to have opened the door for Doohan to leave, with Ange Postecoglou now having [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-fc/kader/verein/371/plus/0/galerie/0?saison_id=2021) goalkeepers on the books in Glasgow.

### The Latest: Doohan update

According to [The Herald’s Mark Hendry](https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/19489031.celtics-ross-doohan-complete-tranmere-rovers-season-long-loan-joe-hart-signs-parkhead/), Doohan will undergo a medical with Tranmere on Tuesday morning ahead of a season-long loan.

A move for the 23-year-old, who was described as [‘excellent’](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/celtic-loan-star-ross-doohan-21606609) by former Ayr manager Mark Kerr last year, is expected to go through this week.

Doohan, who has just [12 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ross-doohan/profil/spieler/285283) remaining on his Hoops contract, has had a [number of loan moves](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ross-doohan/transfers/spieler/285283) in the past and looks set to [reunite](https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/19489031.celtics-ross-doohan-complete-tranmere-rovers-season-long-loan-joe-hart-signs-parkhead/) with former Dundee United manager Micky Mellon at Prenton Park.

A season-long loan deal for Doohan was [confimed](https://www.tranmererovers.co.uk/news/2021/august/doohan-signs-on-loan-from-celtic/) by Tranmere on Wednesday lunchtime.

### The Verdict: Another to go?

With Doohan heading to Merseyside for the upcoming campaign, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if another Celtic shot-stopper left on a temporary basis.

[Vasilis Barkas](https://twitter.com/choria80/status/1421473623919976455) and [Conor Hazard](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/conor-hazard-could-leave-celtic-24441773) have both been linked with possible loan exits this summer, so perhaps one of the two could leave.

That would still leave Postecoglou with three solid options from which to choose, but you’d expect that the [vastly experienced](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-hart/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/40204) Hart will be first choice going forward.
