# Celtic: Hoops scout watches Antoine Semenyo

**Celtic sent senior scout Craig Strachan to watch Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo in action against Reading on Wednesday night, according to [Bristol World](https://www.bristolworld.com/sport/football/bristol-city/celtic-send-scout-to-bristol-city-as-the-glasgow-club-join-list-of-antoine-semenyo-suitors-3565245).**

### The Lowdown: Semenyo in fine form

Described as [‘dangerous’](https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sunderland-boss-full-praise-antoine-3884023) by his former Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson, Semenyo has been in fine for the Robins in recent months.

Prior to Sunday’s trip to Swansea City, the 22-year-old had contributed to [10](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antoine-semenyo/leistungsdaten/spieler/583255) English Championship goals in as many games, scoring five and providing five assists.

His impressive form earned him the [Championship Player of the Month](https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/viva-semenyo-player-of-the-month/#:~:text=Antoine%20Semenyo%20has%20been%20voted,Rangers%20attacking%20midfielder%20Chris%20Willock.) award for January, and it seems as if the Hoops have stepped up their interest by sending a chief scout to watch him live in action.

### The Latest: Source’s update

According to [Bristol World](https://www.bristolworld.com/sport/football/bristol-city/celtic-send-scout-to-bristol-city-as-the-glasgow-club-join-list-of-antoine-semenyo-suitors-3565245), who were informed by sources north of the border, Strachan was present at Ashton Gate, which holds just over [27,000 people](https://stadiumdb.com/stadiums/eng/ashton_gate), to watch Semenyo in action.

The forward isn’t close to penning new terms with Bristol City despite holding talks and will be into the final 12 months of his [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antoine-semenyo/profil/spieler/583255) in the summer.

### The Verdict: Strachan impressed?

Strachan may well have liked what he saw from Semenyo in midweek, who scored the opener, hit the woodwork and completed two successful dribbles in a 2-1 win for the hosts. \[[SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/bristol-city-reading/Dsib)\]

He can play [anywhere](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antoine-semenyo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/583255) across the front three and has enjoyed his [best](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antoine-semenyo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/583255) season in front of goal during his career in 2021/22. On that basis, he could be a shrewd target for Celtic, who have just [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/kader/verein/371) natural senior centre-forwards in Albian Ajeti and Giorgos Giakoumakis.

[Kyogo Furuhashi](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyogo-furuhashi/leistungsdaten/spieler/489463) and [Daizen Maeda](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daizen-maeda/leistungsdaten/spieler/420931) can also play down the middle, but if Ajeti finds a new club, Semenyo could be the perfect replacement as Ange Postecoglou looks to continue his Parkhead rebuild.
