# Celtic: Hoops ‘open talks’ to sign Sead Haksabanovic

**[Celtic](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/) have reportedly ‘opened talks’ to sign Rubin Kazan winger Sead Haksabanovic, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-open-talks-to-sign-ex-west-ham-star-sead-haksabanovic/).**

### The lowdown: Career so far

[Signed](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sead-haksabanovic/transfers/spieler/349300) by West Ham in 2017 as an exciting youngster, things never worked out as planned for Haksabanovic in London and the Sweden-born attacker finally left the club in 2020 after just [two first-team appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sead-haksabanovic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/349300/verein/379) following multiple loan moves.

The 23-year-old Montenegro international arrived at Rubin Kazan for [£5.85million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sead-haksabanovic/transfers/spieler/349300) but spent time on loan at Swedish outfit Djurgarden last season, directly contributing to [four goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sead-haksabanovic/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/349300) in 11 outings.

Now, it appears as though Haksabanovic could be on the move once again with Glasgow a potential landing spot…

### The latest: ‘Very keen’

As per [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-open-talks-to-sign-ex-west-ham-star-sead-haksabanovic/), Celtic are believed to have ‘opened talks’ to sign the [28-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sead-haksabanovic/nationalmannschaft/spieler/349300/verein_id/11953) ace this summer.

It’s claimed that Haksabanovic is ‘seeking a move away’ from Russia due to the ongoing issues in the nation and is ‘very keen’ on a switch to Parkhead.

The report also states that Ange Postecoglou has personally given the ‘green light’ to the transfer of the man dubbed [‘fantastic’](https://twitter.com/SofaScoreINT/status/1280779095266164737) by reputable statistics source SofaScore.

### The verdict: Make it happen

Capable of [operating](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sead-haksabanovic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/349300) on either wing, in central attacking areas and in centre-midfield, Haksabanovic offers supreme versatility that would make him an excellent addition to Postecoglou’s ranks.

Predominantly operating as a left-winger, the talented star [scored three times and provided six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sead-haksabanovic/leistungsdaten/spieler/349300/plus/0?saison=2021) in 34 appearances across all competitions last term, earning an impressive 7.22 [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/sead-haksabanovic/791978) rating whilst winning 5.0 duels, successfully completing 1.5 dribbles and making 1.9 key passes on average per game in the Swedish top flight.

To put those numbers into perspective, he’s actually creating chances at a higher rate than former fan favourite [Tom Rogic](https://www.sofascore.com/player/tom-rogic/277463), whose playmaking will of course need replacing.

Despite the [competition for places](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/kader/verein/371) on the left wing from Jota, Daizen Maeda, Mikey Johnston and Kyogo Furuhashi, adding the [£4.95million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sead-haksabanovic/marktwertverlauf/spieler/349300) Haksabanovic to the Lennoxtown ranks would be a superb piece of business.
