# Celtic: Some fans weren’t too pleased with club’s Ismaila Soro transfer update

**Celtic announced on their official website [celticfc.net](https://www.celticfc.net/news/17421) on Wednesday that midfielder Ismaila Soro had passed a medical at the club and will complete his proposed transfer from Bnei Yehuda pending the approval of international clearance, with [@CelticFC](https://twitter.com/celticfc/status/1220028235041398786?s=21) on Twitter relaying the news.**

According to [celticfc.net](https://www.celticfc.net/news/17421), the Hoops have agreed terms with the Israeli club on a four-and-a-half-year deal for the 21-year-old Ivorian, who becomes the Scottish champions’ [second signing of the January transfer window](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-fc/transfers/verein/371/plus/0?saison_id=2019&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=w) after the [arrival of striker Patryk Klimala](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51085814) last week.

Soro’s impending arrival at Parkhead concludes a saga which begun in late November when, as reported by the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-track-ismaila-soro-parkhead-21005600), Celtic sent scouts to watch the midfielder in action. After his agent Dudu Dahan appeared to hint at a possible move to Glasgow earlier this month (as per [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ismaila-soro-celtic-transfer-speculation-21248447)), the transfer tale seemed to take a twist last week after [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11787/11908273/celtic-want-ivorian-midfielder-ismaila-soro-but-face-transfer-battle-with-genk) claimed that Genk had entered the race for his signature.

Although the announcement from [@CelticFC](https://twitter.com/celticfc/status/1220028235041398786?s=21) included an image with the hashtag #welcomesoro, the “proposed transfer” phrasing and absence of any wording to say that the transfer was fully completed prompted a backlash from these Hoops fans on Twitter, with one supporter describing the club’s update as “odd”:
