Celtic Park, Glasgow, Scotland, Britain - May 7, 2022. Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou celebrates after the match.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is being eyed up by Wolves as a possible replacement for Bruno Lage, according to a report from The Telegraph‘s John Percy.

The Lowdown: Lage sacked by Wolves

The 46-year-old was sacked by the Old Gold on Sunday following a 2-0 defeat away to West Ham the previous day which has left them languishing in 18th place in the Premier League.

A thorough search is now underway to find Lage’s successor at Molineux, with a host of names likely to be examined in the coming days.

Postecoglou appears to be one of them, following a report which has emerged.

The Latest: Postecoglou being eyed up by Wolves

According to The Telegraph‘s Percy, Wolves view the Celtic manager as a potential appointment, given the Australian’s impressive work in Glasgow.

Postecoglou has been ‘discussed as an option’ by the Premier League club, although it is stated that ‘there are doubts’ regarding whether or not he would leave Parkhead at a crucial juncture in the season.

The Verdict: Worrying for Celtic

Postecoglou is an enormously popular figure at Celtic, so any rumour regarding his exit is always going to be a concern, especially with his current deal only running until next summer.

It would be a bitter blow to lose the 57-year-old at this time of the season, with the Hoops looking a good bet to retain their Premiership title and also hoping to progress to the Champions League knockout stages.

Will Postecoglou sign a new deal?

No

In truth, it would be a shock to the system if Postecoglou leaves for Molineux, despite the obvious lure of the Premier League, and it feels as though Wolves probably know that deep down.
