# Celtic: Transfer expert excited by Cho Gue-Sung links

**[Celtic](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/) are eyeing up a move for South Korea international Cho Gue-Sung and transfer expert Dean Jones has been reacting to the news.**

### The Lowdown: Cho impresses at World Cup

The 24-year-old may have been knocked out of the 2022 [World Cup](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/world-cup-2022/) now, but he left his mark at the tournament, shining for South Korea across four matches.

Cho [scored twice](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/447605/Show/Cho-Gue-Sung) in Qatar, both of which came against Ghana, and he led the line impressively alongside Tottenham superstar Son Heung-min.

The attacker has been [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-cho-gue-sung-jeonbuk-hyundai-motors-latest-transfer-news-rumours-updates/) with a move to Celtic recently with his agent even [confirming](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-cho-gue-sung-jeonbuk-hyundai-motors-latest-transfer-news-rumours-updates/) talks with teams in Europe, and it looks to be a transfer rumour with real legs.

### The Latest: Celtic move possible

Jones reacted to the links in a chat with [*Give Me Sport*](https://www.givemesport.com/88092364-celtic-21-goal-world-cup-star-is-potential-signing-for-postecoglou), confirming Cho fits the mould he’s been ‘told’ Ange Postecoglou and Mark Lawwell are looking for:

> “I think Cho Gue-Sung really does actually fit the type of player I’ve been told to look out for here in terms of a potential signing, and so I think that is a really interesting link.”

### The Verdict: Exciting attacking target

Cho could be an excellent signing by Celtic, with his performances at the World Cup not only standing out but also an overall record of [six goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gue-sung-cho/profil/spieler/652537) in 18 caps for his country.

He has also netted [51 times in 136](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gue-sung-cho/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/652537) games at club level, and while the [Scottish Premiership](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/scottish-premiership-news/) would likely be a step up in quality, there is no reason why he couldn’t handle it based on his showings on the big stage in Qatar.

Primarily a central nine, Cho could provide stern competition and perhaps a long-term replacement for Giorgos Giakoumakis, giving Celtic the kind of depth to take them to the next level.
