# Celtic: Stuart Findlay discussion divides these Hoops supporters

**Plenty of Celtic fans have had their say on Stuart Findlay after a tweet that was posted by Celtic Underground ([@celticrumours](https://twitter.com/celticrumours/status/1228041471976181771)) claimed that he is the best centre-back in the Premiership outside of Neil Lennon’s squad.**

The Kilmarnock defender [came through the Hoops’ academy](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stuart-findlay/transfers/spieler/165334) and [captained their under-17 side](https://videocelts.com/2012/05/blogs/who-is-stuart-findlay/) as well as playing for the club in the [UEFA Youth League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stuart-findlay/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/165334) but he [never made a first team appearance at Parkhead](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stuart-findlay/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/165334) and was [loaned out several times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stuart-findlay/transfers/spieler/165334) before [joining Newcastle permanently](https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/archive/magpies-sign-young-duo/) in 2016.

The 24-year-old returned to Scotland with Kilmarnock a year later, initially on loan before making a permanent move (as per [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44712419)), and has been a [regular presence in the side](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stuart-findlay/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/165334) during his time at Rugby Park. He indirectly helped Celtic’s Premiership title bid on Wednesday night with his performance in [Killie’s 2-1 win over Rangers](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51381304).

The tweet from [@celticrumours](https://twitter.com/celticrumours/status/1228041471976181771) claimed that he would be a better option for the Hoops than Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna, for whom a £5m bid from the Parkhead club last summer was rejected (as per [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4399131/celtic-scott-mckenna-aberdeen-5m-bid-rejected-transfer-news/)). The topic of a potential return for Findlay drew a mixed reaction from these Celtic fans on Twitter, with some gladly willing to take him back and others less keen on him – one fan stated his preference for keeping faith in Stephen Welsh, who [made his Hoops debut](https://www.skysports.com/football/hamilton-vs-celtic/411358) earlier this month:
