# Celtic: These fans aren’t keen on potential Victor Wanyama return to Parkhead

**[Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11922504/victor-wanyama-celtic-in-talks-with-tottenham-to-re-sign-midfielder) have reported this morning that Celtic are in talks with Victor Wanyama about a potential deadline day move to Glasgow.**

The 28-year-old previously played at Parkhead from [2011 to 2013](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/transfers/spieler/77760), making [91 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/77760) for the Hoops and scoring [13 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/77760), including one in a [famous Champions League win over Barcelona](https://www.uefa.com/news/newsid=1855396.html). He [subsequently played for Southampton and Tottenham](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/transfers/spieler/77760) but has barely featured for Spurs this season, making just [four appearances totalling 122 minutes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/leistungsdaten/spieler/77760).

Wanyama has been dogged by injuries over the past couple of years, [missing almost half of the 2017/18 campaign with a knee injury](https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/01/02/swansea-city-0-2-tottenham-hotspur-spurs-grind-out-win-dreadful-weather-conditions) and encountering a further knee problem last season which [ruled him out for 18 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/verletzungen/spieler/77760).

The Kenyan previously played under Lennon during the current manager’s first stint in charge of Celtic, with the 48-year-old telling the club’s AGM in November that he’d like to have Wanyama back at the club (as per [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/celtic-agm-2019-live-peter-20969720)). Back in September, the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7415363/Tottenham-midfielder-Victor-Wanyama-facing-anxious-wait-amid-doubts-13m-Club-Brugge.html) reported that the Hoops had considered signing him on a season-long loan during last summer’s transfer window.

These Celtic fans on Twitter don’t seem keen on Wanyama’s potential return to Parkhead:

> Wanyama is a good player. But the obsession with signing him does not make sense! He plays in a position we are very well blessed in. Surely a CB and winger are far more important?!

> As much as I'd love him back, Wanyama is a distraction.
>
> We need a centre-half.
>
> If we don't get one we have problems regardless of what Lennon has said about being well covered.
>
> We aren't. Especially if he wants a 3-man defence with regularity.
