# Celtic: These fans lavish praise on ‘class act’ Nir Bitton

**Celtic’s Nir Bitton was praised by several journalists for his performance in last weekend’s [win](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4673227/celtic-nir-bitton-israel-injury-rangers/)in the Glasgow derby.**

[Football Scotland](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/celtic-player-ratings-against-rangers-16847736)‘s Craig Williams said that he was “[one of the star performers](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/celtic-player-ratings-against-rangers-16847736)” at Ibrox, while Derek McGregor described him as “[ice-cool under pressure](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4670709/celtic-player-ratings-rangers-ibrox/)” in [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4670709/celtic-player-ratings-rangers-ibrox/), and [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11781/11800070/rangers-0-2-celtic-player-ratings-odsonne-edouard-shines-again-as-rangers-struggle)‘ Allan Valente called him “[impressive](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11781/11800070/rangers-0-2-celtic-player-ratings-odsonne-edouard-shines-again-as-rangers-struggle)“.

Celtic fan [@\_67ONeill](https://twitter.com/_67ONeill/status/1169200768605466625) on Twitter also joined in the commendation for the 27-year-old [Israel international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/profil/spieler/129788), believing him to be the most underappreciated player at the club.

Bitton, who was sidelined for almost a year with a knee injury (as per [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4361317/nir-bitton-injury-ended-celtic-career/)), has made [11 appearances already this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/leistungsdaten/spieler/129788) following the win at Ibrox and, despite [playing most of his career in defensive midfield](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/129788), he has [frequently filled in at centre-back in the early weeks of the current campaign](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/leistungsdaten/spieler/129788).

However, he looks set to be missing for most of September after [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4680194/neil-lennon-five-minutes-celtic-beat-rangers/) quoted Celtic manager Neil Lennon as saying that Bitton will be out for “[three or four weeks](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4680194/neil-lennon-five-minutes-celtic-beat-rangers/)” with injury.

These Celtic fans took to Twitter to voice their own words of acclaim for the 27-year-old, [whose current contract expires at the end of this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/profil/spieler/129788):

> A don't think there is any danger of him not getting a new contract, he's NL go to guy who just plays anywhere he is asked no moaning about not playing or what positions hes played in, he seems happy just to play
