# Celtic: Transfer insider makes Ahmed Kendouci claim

**Transfer insider Dean Jones has made a claim regarding reported Celtic target Ahmed Kendouci, [Give Me Sport](https://www.givemesport.com/1827606-celtic-transfer-news-ange-wants-hoops-deal-for-17goal-star-with-huge-potential) report.**

### The Lowdown: Kendouci links

Ange Postecoglou has already signed [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371) players this month, with focus now seemingly on moving some [squad members on](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-transfer-rumours/ajeti-barkas-bolingoli-celtic-exit-rumours/) before Monday’s deadline.

Three of the five through the Parkhead door this month have been midfielders, however, journalist [Pete O’Rourke](https://www.givemesport.com/1826058-celtic-transfer-news-ange-could-target-talented-risktaker-after-major-setback) thinks the Hoops could be after another following a [failed swoop](https://twitter.com/AnthonyRJoseph/status/1481050889196654594) for Riley McGree.

He recently [name-checked](https://www.givemesport.com/1826058-celtic-transfer-news-ange-could-target-talented-risktaker-after-major-setback) Kendouci as a possible target, with Celtic [linked](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/8268633/celtic-linked-ahmed-kendouci-lowdown-rangers-bougherra/) with a move for the [‘creative’](https://www.celticway.co.uk/tactics/19849083.celtic-linked-ahmed-kendouci-scouted-talented-risk-taker-actually-fit-bill/) playmaker earlier this month.

### The Latest: Jones’ comments

Transfer insider Jones gave his thoughts regarding the 22-year-old to [Give Me Sport](https://www.givemesport.com/1827606-celtic-transfer-news-ange-wants-hoops-deal-for-17goal-star-with-huge-potential) in a story shared on Tuesday evening.

He gave a glowing reference on the Algerian, labelling him as a player with ‘huge potential’.

> “From what I’ve heard, this guy’s got huge potential. And Celtic would be a great stepping stone for him at this stage in his career.”

### The Verdict: Handy?

Postecoglou relied heavily on [Callum McGregor](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/callum-mcgregor/leistungsdaten/spieler/120977), [Tom Rogic](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-rogic/leistungsdaten/spieler/213672) and [David Turnbull](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-turnbull/leistungsdaten/spieler/345760) prior to the New Year, however, two of the three are currently out injured.

The Hoops now have a plethora of options following moves for Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Matt O’Riley, however, Kendouci could be viewed as a more attack-minded midfielder.

Rogic is the [only](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/kader/verein/371) out and out attacking midfielder on the books at Parkhead, so landing Kendouci, valued at [£1.17m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-kendouci/profil/spieler/645764), could be a shrewd low-risk move.

Michael Nicholson will have to be quick in order to finalise a sixth signing, though, with Monday’s deadline quickly approaching.
