# Celtic: Hoops could benefit from potential Jeremie Frimpong move

**Celtic could receive a healthy injection of cash from Jeremie Frimpong’s mooted move to Bayern Munich.**

### The lowdown

Peter Lawwell paid just under [£350,000](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremie-frimpong/profil/spieler/484547) to sign Frimpong from Manchester City back in September 2019.

Less than 18 months later, after he’d made [51 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremie-frimpong/leistungsdaten/spieler/484547) for the club, Bayer Leverkusen tabled a successful [£9.9million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremie-frimpong/profil/spieler/484547) bid to bring him to the Bundesliga.

Frimpong, still only 21, has established himself as a mainstay for Die Werkself, starting [23 of their 24 league matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremie-frimpong/leistungsdaten/spieler/484547) so far this season.

In all competitions, he’s played 31 times, scoring [two goals and laying on eight assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremie-frimpong/leistungsdaten/spieler/484547).

And according to [SPORT1](https://www.sport1.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/2022/03/fc-bayern-kommt-jeremie-frimpong-von-bayer-leverkusen), that form has caught the attention of league leaders Bayern Munich.

Julian Nagelsmann is apparently after a new right-back so he can move Benjamin Pavard into a central role, and Frimpong features on his list of targets.

### The latest

[The Herald’s Aidan Smith](https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/19971339.celtic-transfer-news-update-ange-postecoglous-latest-links-possible-exits-parkhead-gossip/) writes that Lawwell is ‘believed’ to have included a sell-on clause when Celtic sold Frimpong to Leverkusen.

If he joins Bayern, then, the Hoops are in line to receive a ‘significant’ cut.

### The verdict

Just how much money could Celtic stand to earn here?

Well, SPORT1’s report states that Leverkusen will demand at least €30million, which equates to £24.8million.

If the sell-on clause is 10%, then, they would bank just under £2.5million, and if it was 20%, nearly £5million could be coming their way.

Celtic will no doubt hope something of a bidding war develops for the hot prospect, with [‘heavyweights’](https://www.sport1.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/2022/03/fc-bayern-kommt-jeremie-frimpong-von-bayer-leverkusen) in England and Spain also said to be interested.

That £350,000 outlay three and a half years ago is looking more and more shrewd by the day.
