Celtic are believed to be keen on signing South Korea striker Cho Gue-sung, according to The Scottish Sun’s David Friel.

The Lowdown: Cho profiled

Cho plies his trade in his native country with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and is primarily a centre-forward who can also play on the wing.

The 24-year-old has scored 57 goals for club and country, two of which came at the World Cup in a 3-2 defeat to Ghana earlier this week.

Sponsored by Nike, the versatile forward seems to be the next target on Ange Postecoglou’s transfer wish list for the Premiership champions.

The Latest: Celtic linked with Cho

Friel shared a story for The Scottish Sun on Wednesday night regarding Celtic and Cho.

He revealed that the Hoops have joined the race for the South Korea forward but are just one of numerous European clubs who are keen on his services.

Friel added that Postecoglou has prior experience of what Cho can do, with the striker scoring against the current Celtic manager's Yokohama F Marinos team in February 2020.

The Verdict: One to watch

Celtic have already secured a mid-season deal for centre-back Yuki Kobayashi and are fast closing in on right-back Alistair Johnston, so Cho could be the perfect third winter addition at Parkhead.

Postecoglou wants to bring in a new striker to rival Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis, and Cho has shown on the world stage that he would be able to do just that.

However, a transfer won’t be straightforward due to the interest across Europe, and with South Korea legend Lee Young-pyo labelling him as a “recognised player”, that interest could continue to build prior to the New Year.
