# Celtic: Swedish report provides Mohanad Jeahze update

**Swedish newspaper Expressen, relayed by [Fotboll Skanalen](https://www.fotbollskanalen.se/bloggar/sillybloggen/2022/04/27/uppgifter-prislappen-pa-jeahze/?utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fotbollskanalen_bloggar]) and translated by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/celtic-may-prepared-pay-less-e2m-defender-no-concrete-bid-present/), has provided an update regarding [Celtic](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/) and a pursuit of Hammarby left-back Mohanad Jeahze.**

### The lowdown: Hoops’ interest

This comes following a [report](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/celtic/mohanad-jeahze-celtic-linked-with-iraq-international-and-its-not-hard-to-see-why-3669050) earlier this week claiming that the Parkhead outfit were keen on bringing the Iraq international to Glasgow.

The 25-year-old is under contract in Sweden until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohanad-jeahze/profil/spieler/296384)) and is believed to be on the radar of a number of clubs across Europe.

Now a fresh update has emerged from Sweden that will delight the Celtic hierarchy…

### The latest: Bargain deal

As per Expressen, relayed by [Fotboll Skanalen](https://www.fotbollskanalen.se/bloggar/sillybloggen/2022/04/27/uppgifter-prislappen-pa-jeahze/?utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fotbollskanalen_bloggar]) via [SW](https://sportwitness.co.uk/celtic-may-prepared-pay-less-e2m-defender-no-concrete-bid-present/), the Hoops are ‘prepared’ to sign Jeahze for as little as €1.44-1.93million (£1.2-1.6million) in the summer transfer window.

Albeit the report states that there has been ‘no concrete bid’ for the [three-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohanad-jeahze/nationalmannschaft/spieler/296384/verein_id/3560) ace, it appears that the interest from Lennoxtown is genuine.

Born in Sweden of Iraqi heritage, Jeahze represented the Scandinavian nation at various youth levels before making a senior international debut for Iraq in November 2021.

### The verdict: Get it done

Despite the upturn in form of Greg Taylor this season, Ange Postecoglou is almost certain to seek out reinforcements in the window as Boli Bolignoli [appears](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-star-boli-bolingoli-in-line-for-new-transfer-after-club-talks/) ready to move on.

So far this season Jeazhe has [scored once and provided five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohanad-jeahze/leistungsdaten/spieler/296384) in 13 appearances across all competitions and earned a remarkable 7.74/10 match rating from five Allsvenskan outings, making 2.6 interceptions, 2.8 tackles and 2.6 key passes on average per game ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/mohanad-jeahze/837832)).

To put those numbers into perspective, no Celtic player with more than two appearances averages more than [1.5 tackles or 1.6 interceptions](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/103/Show/Scotland-Celtic) per Premiership game, while only David Turnbull creates more chances in the current Hoops squad.

\[freshpress-poll id=”387226″\]

Holding a perceived [market value](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohanad-jeahze/marktwertverlauf/spieler/296384) of £900,000, signing the Iraq star for anything around the mooted fee would be a superb coup for the Hoops.
