# Celtic: Trevor Sinclair believes Paolo Di Canio should succeed Neil Lennon in Bhoys’ dugout

**Former Premier League player Trevor Sinclair believes that Paolo Di Canio should be the man to take over from Celtic manager Neil Lennon.**

### Paolo to Parkhead?

The Irish tactician has been under intense scrutiny and a [banner](https://twitter.com/NCCeltic/status/1331526569949585408?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1331526569949585408%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailyrecord.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Ffootball-news%2Fgreen-brigade-urge-neil-lennon-23065084) that was unveiled by the Green Brigade urging chief executive Peter Lawwell to sack him after Celtic’s poor start to the season.

Celtic are currently [11](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/scottish-premiership/table) points behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership and are [yet to win a group game](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54753455) in Europe this season, putting in jeopardy their hopes of securing 10-in-a-row and making an impact in the Europa League.

Di Canio joined Celtic as a player for £1m in 1996 and scored 15 goals from 38 appearances in all competitions ([Soccerbase](https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=1279)), and has been out of managerial work since leaving his Sunderland post back in 2013.

When asked by Jim White on [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/794259/) who should be the man to step in Lennon’s shoes, Sinclair said: “Paolo Di Canio. He played excellently when he was up there.

“I think he’s got the passion, and I think he’d stimulate the players and he’s got management experience.

“I think he would absolutely be brilliant for Celtic at the moment.”

### Transfer Tavern Verdict

Di Canio’s arrival in Scotland would light up the Scottish Premiership and would make the Old Firm matches even more must-watch events than they currently are.

However, with a record of just 0.92 points-per-match from 13 games as a manager of Sunderland ([TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paolo-di-canio/leistungsdatenDetail/trainer/7556/verein_id/289/datum_zu/2013-03-31/datum_ab/2013-09-22)), the Bhoys may have their eyes on other candidates if they do relieve the Irishman from his duties.

Still, Lennon still has a job to do and is in the position to be able to turn his fortunes around.
