# Celtic: Tsoanelo Letsosa targeted by Leicester; Hoops unhappy with Premier League club

**Celtic are understood to be unhappy with the reported interest from an English Premier League club in one of their highly-rated young prospects.**

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-chiefs-fume-as-leicester-swoop-for-their-young-midfielder/) reported that Leicester, who are managed by ex-Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers, have a strong interest in Tsoanelo Letsosa and have been keeping close tabs on him since his standout performances for Scotland in the Victory Shield last November.

However, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-chiefs-fume-as-leicester-swoop-for-their-young-midfielder/), Celtic are reportedly disgruntled over the Foxes’ attempts to lure the 16-year-old midfielder south of the border, with the outlet claiming that relations between the clubs had been soured by the [abrupt manner of Rodgers’ exit from Parkhead](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47368712) just under a year ago.

As noted by [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-chiefs-fume-as-leicester-swoop-for-their-young-midfielder/), Letsosa played a starring role for Scotland as they were crowned joint-winners in the most recent Victory Shield, being named man of the match in the final. The same outlet added that the teenager, who came to Celtic in 2017, is a very well-rounded sportsperson who has broken numerous records in underage athletics in Glasgow and boasts “eye-catching speed and athleticism”.

According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-toure-urges-rodgers-to-sign-celtic-youngster-whos-blown-him-away/), former Hoops defender Kolo Toure alerted Rodgers to the qualities possessed by the 16-year-old and advised his boss to try and lure the youngster from Glasgow to the English Premier League outfit, a move that both [Rodgers and Toure](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47388992) made last year.

This would not be the first time that a club from one of Europe’s top leagues has targeted bright young prospects at Celtic. Six months ago, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich [signed 16-year-old defender Liam Morrison](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49381989) from the Hoops and the teenager has gone on to play regularly for the German club’s under-17 side, [scoring twice in 14 league appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liam-morrison/leistungsdaten/spieler/567114).

Having already seen Morrison enticed out the door, it’s unsurprising that Celtic are keen not to allow Letsosa follow suit, especially given the scale of his potential and the [reportedly frosty relations](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-chiefs-fume-as-leicester-swoop-for-their-young-midfielder/) with Leicester.

The emerging pattern of foreign interest in teenage prospects at Parkhead has also seen the likes of Karamoko Dembele being targeted by Chelsea (as per [90min.com](https://www.90min.com/posts/6494767-exclusive-chelsea-line-up-bid-for-celtic-wonderkid-karamoko-dembele/partners/41944)), with the 16-year-old already making [three senior appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/karamoko-dembele/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/466602) for the Hoops, and it’s a trend that ought to cause alarm for Celtic as they try to avoid others from following Morrison out of the club and making waves elsewhere.
