# Celtic TT Roundup: Hoops want to extend Daniel Arzani’s loan, pundit rates Ryan Christie at £30m, Scott Sinclair ‘orchestrating’ January exit

**In this instalment of our TT Roundup, Football Transfer Tavern have gathered three of the biggest stories to have involved Celtic recently and have provided our thoughts on the reports published.**

**Celtic looking to extend Daniel Arzani’s loan deal**

Celtic want to keep Australian winger Daniel Arzani at the club and will seek an extension to his two-year loan deal for another season, as reported by [The World Game](https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/vote-of-confidence-for-arzani-as-celtic-bid-to-extend-loan-deal).

According to [The World Game](https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/vote-of-confidence-for-arzani-as-celtic-bid-to-extend-loan-deal), manager Neil Lennon has been sufficiently impressed by the 20-year-old’s performances in training and reserve team games to intend asking his parent club Manchester City to extend his loan until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

Arzani [hasn’t played for Celtic since injuring his anterior cruciate ligament](https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/vote-of-confidence-for-arzani-as-celtic-bid-to-extend-loan-deal) (ACL) in October 2018, but [The World Game](https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/vote-of-confidence-for-arzani-as-celtic-bid-to-extend-loan-deal) understands that he is keen to prove himself at the club and has targeted the Boxing Day clash against St Mirren for his comeback.

**Verdict**

Arzani remains an unknown quantity at Celtic, seeing as he has only [played once for the club](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daniel-arzani/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/399997) prior to his ACL injury, and he could find it tough to force his way into the team after being ruled out for so long.

While the Australian [can play on either wing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daniel-arzani/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/399997), Mohamed Elyounoussi ([left](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elyounoussi/leistungsdaten/spieler/186644)) and James Forrest ([right](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-forrest/leistungsdaten/spieler/84992)) have thrived in those positions this season, with [seven and 11 goals respectively](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/leistungsdaten/verein/371), so Arzani isn’t likely to displace either any time soon.

However, with Mikey Johnston [suffering his own injury troubles](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4853309/neil-lennon-mikey-johnston-celtic-injury-concern/), Scott Sinclair [frozen out by Lennon](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-sinclair/leistungsdaten/spieler/31552) and Lewis Morgan scoring just [once in 13 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/leistungsdaten/verein/371) this season, Celtic don’t have huge strength in depth on the left-hand side, so the Australian deserves the chance to show what he can do.

**Pundit describes Ryan Christie as ‘a £30million player’**

Former Aberdeen striker Noel Whelan has described Celtic attacking midfielder Ryan Christie as “a £30million player” and feels that the Hoops shouldn’t accept anything less if other clubs come in for him.

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/wow-exclusive-pundit-in-30m-celtic-transfer-claim-after-astonishing-transformation/), Whelan hailed the “transformation” of the 24-year-old under Neil Lennon and feels that it would take a large offer to convince Celtic to sell him.

He told [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/wow-exclusive-pundit-in-30m-celtic-transfer-claim-after-astonishing-transformation/): “You’re looking at a £30million player. It would take a ridiculous sum for another club to buy him now. I’ve seen players with less ability than Christie go for more than £30million.”

**Verdict**

Whelan is correct in highlighting the huge impact that Christie has made in recent months, with him being Celtic’s joint-top scorer so far this season with [12 goals alongside centre-forward Odsonne Edouard](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/leistungsdaten/verein/371), having already surpassed his full 2018/19 tally of [11](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-christie/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/188077).

The Frenchman was reportedly the subject of a proposed £30m bid from Napoli during the summer, as per the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7470927/Serie-giants-Napoli-plotting-30m-bid-Celtics-Odsonne-Edouard.html), and with he and Christie tied on 12 goals for the season, Whelan’s £30m valuation of the Scotland international seems like a fair comparison.

Considering the impact that he is having at Celtic this season, the Hoops can ill-afford to lose him without holding out for a sizeable fee and having an adequate replacement lined up.

**Scott Sinclair reportedly orchestrating January exit with social media posts**

![](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/2018-08-30T202715Z_898375432_RC1D0F4096A0_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-EUROPA-CEL-SUDUVA-1024x620.jpg)

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/celtic-convinced-big-name-carefully-orchestrating-january-exit/) has claimed that Celtic winger Scott Sinclair is “orchestrating a January exit plan with his carefully timed social media posts”, with the winger playing just [six times all season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-sinclair/leistungsdaten/spieler/31552) for the Hoops.

According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/celtic-convinced-big-name-carefully-orchestrating-january-exit/), sources close to the club have said that the 30-year-old has been trying to communicate his fitness and physical condition to prospective suitors with a series of pointed social media posts.

Last weekend, Sinclair posted a photo of his muscular upper body on [his Instagram profile](https://www.instagram.com/p/B4-0bP5lSPk/?utm_source=ig_embed), along with the message “No matter what the situation, I’m focused and ready”.

**Verdict**

Having played [50 or more matches in each of his three previous seasons](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-sinclair/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/31552) at Celtic, Sinclair has had just [six appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-sinclair/leistungsdaten/spieler/31552) this term, [all of them from the bench](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-sinclair/leistungsdaten/spieler/31552) and [none since the end of September](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-sinclair/leistungsdaten/spieler/31552).

With [62 Celtic goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-sinclair/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/31552) to his name, the winger has certainly made his mark for the Hoops, but the impact of Mohamed Elyounoussi on the left ([seven goals this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elyounoussi/leistungsdaten/spieler/186644)) has seen him routinely included in place of Sinclair.

The Englishman is apparently keen on a return to his native country in search of regular game-time, as claimed by [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-big-earner-tells-friends-he-is-plotting-january-move-to-england/) last month, and with the likes of Elyounoussi producing the goods and keeping him out of the team, the time may be right for Celtic to let Sinclair leave if a suitable offer comes in for him over the winter.
