# Celtic: Vasilis Barkas set for summer exit

**Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas is likely to leave the club in the summer, according to journalist [Giannis Chorianopoulos](https://twitter.com/choria80/status/1501282058651459594?s=21).**

Barkas isn’t the first player to be linked with a summer exit this month, with the Hoops telling forward [Albian Ajeti](https://www.footballinsider247.com/celtic-news-ajeti/) he is free to find a new club at the end of the season.

The striker isn’t thought to be in Ange Postecoglou’s plans, playing just under [300](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/albian-ajeti/leistungsdaten/spieler/195906) minutes of Premiership action all season, and Barkas has also been frozen out at Parkhead.

The goalkeeper has made just [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vasilis-barkas/leistungsdaten/spieler/248658) appearances in all competitions, and he too looks like he could finally seal a move away over the coming months.

### The Latest: Barkas to follow?

Greek journalist [Chorianopoulos](https://twitter.com/choria80/status/1501282058651459594?s=21) took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to provide the latest on Barkas’ situation, claiming that the player’s representatives are already on the lookout for options.

### The Verdict: Needed

Exits for Ajeti and Barkas in the summer appear to be needed, as they are clearly not fancied by Postecoglou and are earning [£18,000-a-week](https://salarysport.com/football/player/albian-ajeti/) and [£9,000-a-week](https://salarysport.com/football/player/vasilis-barkas/) respectively.

Barkas, labelled as [‘horrendous’](https://thisisfutbol.com/2020/10/blogs/scottish-premier-league/celtic-tam-mcmanus-criticises-vasilis-barkas/) by pundit Tam McManus, hasn’t lived up to expectations following his [£4.5m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53559787) move, with McManus also labelling the shot-stopper as a [‘waste of money’](https://thisisfutbol.com/2020/10/blogs/scottish-premier-league/celtic-tam-mcmanus-criticises-vasilis-barkas/).

A permanent exit would be best for all involved, however, the Hoops may have to accept a loss on the goalkeeper, especially with his [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vasilis-barkas/marktwertverlauf/spieler/248658) valuation dropping from £4.5m to £1.35m in recent years.
