# Celtic: Victor Wanyama recalls his first Hoops goal on Instagram

**Former Celtic defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama clearly still has fond memories of the club as he posted a video on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/CA_-NvGJxV6/)of his first Hoops goal which came in December 2011.**

It was a great strike from 25 yards which gave the goalkeeper no chance as it sailed into the top corner, and it was supported with the caption, ‘10.12.2011 when I scored my first goal for Celtic’.

However, this video might come as a surprise to supporters as the club tried to re-sign the [Kenyan international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/erfolge/spieler/77760) this season, according to the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7415363/Tottenham-midfielder-Victor-Wanyama-facing-anxious-wait-amid-doubts-13m-Club-Brugge.html) and [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9935748/spurs-transfer-news-celtic-wanyama/), but the player chose Montreal Impact, where he has only managed one appearance at Thierry Henry’s club before football was postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The player has also spoken about wanting to return to the Hoops, according to [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/1745064/2020/04/14/wanyama-tottenham-canada-victor-celtic-southampton-montreal-impact/), via [celticbible,](https://twitter.com/celticbible/status/1250317857633619972?s=20) as he said: “I want to play for Celtic again before I finish. I have unfinished business there. I love that club.”

Wanyama made 91 appearances for the Hoops, managing to score 13 goals and grab nine assists, whilst winning the league twice as well as the Scottish Cup once (as per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/erfolge/spieler/77760)) before moving to the English Premier League to play for both Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

It will be interesting to see whether he will be welcomed back with open arms if he does return to Parkhead.
